2.1 Indicators — The Trader's Toolkit
Moving Averages (MA):
- Simple Moving Average (SMA): Average price over N periods. Lagging but smooth.
- Exponential Moving Average (EMA): Gives more weight to recent prices. More responsive.
- Golden Cross: 50 EMA crosses above 200 EMA = bullish signal
- Death Cross: 50 EMA crosses below 200 EMA = bearish signal
Trading Strategy with MAs:
- Price above 200 EMA = long-term uptrend, look for longs
- Price below 200 EMA = long-term downtrend, look for shorts or stay out
- 9 EMA crossing 21 EMA = short-term momentum shift
